We welcome families with children of all ages, and even your dog

Lots to do and learn

There is plenty at the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre to keep the youngsters busy. We offer free activity sheets, discovery trails, a dressing-up box, as well as interactive exhibits and a regular programme of activities aimed at families with children.
Children love our unique replica flying boat cockpit, where they can soar over the haven and land safely thanks to our video simulation.
Your well-behaved dog is also welcome (maximum three dogs may be in the museum at a time).
At special events children can make their own badges, have their faces painted, or even meet their heroes in costume.
Check our What’s On page and social media for news of upcoming events such as half-term family fun days, or our annual Star Wars-themed Falcon Fun Day held on the last bank holiday of May each year.

And for our smallest visitors

For families with younger children, there are baby changing facilities available in the unisex accessible toilet on the ground floor, with ample room for a pram or pushchair.
Breast-feeding is welcomed.
The museum site, including all the displays, is all on one level with ramp access to the main door, making it fully accessible to prams and pushchairs.

Your children's personal guide: Pembroke Duck

Meet Pembroke Duck! This jolly character appears around the museum and he loves dressing up. See him as an airman, a stormtrooper, an air raid warden, and even an admiral.
Pembroke Duck is found in child’s-eye height storyboards throughout the museum, explaining key parts of our history in simple language.

We've signed the Kids in Museums Manifesto

Kids in Museums is a charity that works with museums, heritage sites and cultural organisations nationwide to make them more welcoming for children, families and young people.
We have joined over 1,000 heritage museums in England and Wales who have signed up to their Manifesto – a set of simple guidelines for museums, heritage sites and cultural organisations that sets out what makes a heritage site a great place for families to visit.
We aim to continually improve our selection of activities, events and the nature of our displays, in order to appeal to wider age ranges of children and their families. So please give us your feedback or suggestions when you visit, or send an email to enquiries@pdht.org
